After a busy and exhausting work week, we took the bus to spend a weekend in Várpalota in the Hungarian countryside. This break has been eagerly awaited!
This event was planned for two months, organised by the fourth volunteers of the youth center (read our article about our first visit there): they had created an event on Facebook to invite European volunteers from Hungary for two days of games, talks and discoveries.
To participate in this weekend, we had to “apply” for it, completing a silly questionnaire about our blood group, our favorite superhero or our shoe size. Why not?
Après une semaine de travail plutôt chargée et éreintante, nous avons pris le bus pour passer le week-end à Várpalota, dans la campagne hongroise. Une pause bienvenue que nous attendions avec impatience !
Cet événement était prévu depuis deux mois déjà, organisé par les 4 volontaires du centre jeunesse de la ville (voir notre article à propos de notre première visite là-bas) : ils avaient créé un événement sur Facebook afin de convier les volontaires européens de toute la Hongrie pour deux jours de jeux, de discussions et de découvertes.
Pour y participer, il fallait “postuler” en complétant un questionnaire un peu farfelu où il nous était demandé de préciser notre groupe sanguin, notre héros préféré ou notre pointure de chaussure. Pourquoi pas !
Arrived around midday with two other volunteer friends, we joined different groups to participate in a creation of a practical guide about Hungary, completely based on our own experience here.
Among the different categories, we can highlight: “The History of Hungary”, “Bored? Have a break in Hungary”, “Hungary is Hollywood” or “Hungry in Hungary”.
Arrivées aux alentours de midi avec deux amies volontaires, nous nous sommes mêlées aux groupes déjà constitués pour participer à la création d'un « guide pratique » sur la Hongrie, entièrement basé sur nos expériences ici.
Parmi les différentes catégories, on peut noter : « L'Histoire de la Hongrie », « Tu t’ennuies ? Fais une pause », « La Hongrie, c'est Hollywood » ou encore « Affamé en Hongrie ».
Then,
after the lunchtime where everybody had brought something to eat, we
did other games to get to know each other better. It was a huge task
‘cause we were thirty volunteers!
The last game was an orienteering race in Várpalota, which took two hours of our time to finish it.
During
the evening, everybody decided to stay for the night. The programme
wasn’t totally finished: we then had the barbecue left… And music, dance
and all kinds of talks.
My
own wish was to get back home early on the Sunday morning while the
rest of people went on the weekend with games (again) and the savouring
of a goulash...
Puis,
suite au repas du midi où chacun avait ramené quelque chose, nous avons
fait d'autres jeux afin de faire mieux connaissance. Il y avait de quoi
faire, sachant que nous étions une trentaine de volontaires !
Le
dernier jeu consistait en une course d'orientation dans Várpalota, ce
qui nous a bien pris deux bonnes heures pour parvenir à le terminer.
Le
soir venu, tout le monde est resté dormir sur place. Le programme
n'était pas terminé : il restait le barbecue… Et de la musique, de la
danse et des discussions en tous genres.
Pour
ma part, je suis rentrée tôt le dimanche matin tandis que le reste des
volontaires a continué le week-end avec des jeux (encore) et la
dégustation d'un goulash…
